A recent done by the journal of Developmental Psychology confirms that seven out of ten American children under the age of six participate in some form of care outside the home, which adds up to more than 12,500 hours spent in a child development center for a child. Due to the large amount of time spent in a child care facility, it is vital that the facility be designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for the healthy development of children. While many child care facilities are encouraged to provide an environment that will foster learning and growth for its early childhood students, the first priority for all child care centers should be the safety of the children with whom they have been entrusted. This particular requirement is in place because without having to change or spoon feed the individual children, they are able to keep a closer eye and provide the necessary supervision.
